both Wònhyo and Kwòn Kùn make extensive use of complementary structures in their works. While modern researchers more often refer to ch'e/yong Ù—ÈŸ structures as an important thought structure in Korean philosophical works, Pak Chonghong already early drew attention to the use of the binome kae/hap À"˜Í in Wònhyo's work. The lecture will highlight the exegetical use of the latter terms in texts written by Wònhyo and by Kwòn Kùn, and attempt to probe somewhat further into the history of their
use.
