The research centers of the EHESS and its institutional partners are actively engaged in providing support to researchers and research teams in writing funding applications, in bringing together new project teams, facilitating their work and offering guidance, when required.

Alongside maintaining the school’s standards in research excellence and its original research-led teaching programs, the EHESS is committed to securing national funding from a variety of public institutions and funding bodies (Mairie de Paris, Conseil Regional, Agence Nationale de la Recherche, Ministries etc.). It also provides active support to researchers and students bidding for international funding from the European Research Commission and other international organizations.

The EHESS has had great success in the non-thematic European funding programs, namely, the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) awards. It has served as host institution for 8 ERC projects, topping the list of French SSH institutions on these criteria. The EHESS has also been a partner in 12 collaborative projects under FP, FP7 and Horizon 2020.

In terms of numbers of resident Research Fellows, the EHESS had hosted 21 Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowships, which makes it one of the primary host institutions in social sciences and humanities for the Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions program. This program provides generous funding for Research Fellows to gain experience abroad and in the private sector by facilitating international mobility in order for researchers to benefit from training in skills, techniques and disciplines that will be useful for their professional development.

The excellence of the research activities spearheaded by the EHESS was also recognized during the « Investissements d’avenir » French campaign (2010, 2011), in terms of the high number of “Laboratoires d’excellence”, alongside 2 “équipements d’excellence”, which currently include EHESS research units. The EHESS is involved in numerous projects funded by Paris Sciences et Lettres Research University.
